Box Score Simmons College defeated CU Harrodsburg 90-77 in the Pioneers first conference game of the season Thursday in Louisville.
Led by Antoine Darby's 27 points, CU Harrodsburg found themselves down two at the half, but couldn't find their defensive presence in the second half, allowing Simmons to outscore the Pioneers 53-42 in the second half.
Darby would knock down a CU Harrodsburg record eight three point field goals in the contest for 24 of his 27 points, adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Jamal Weaver would continue his stretch of double digit scoring, posting 13 points and five rebounds. Tyrese Duncan would add 12 points for CU Harrodsburg knocking down two three-point field goals.
Simmons would largely find their offense from turnovers by the Pioneers. CU Harrodsburg would turn the ball over a season high 20 times on Thursday, leading to 27 points for Simmons. Simmons would also dominate the post, outscoring the Pioneers 21-6 on second chance opportunities.
Despite the Pioneers struggles in this contest, there were several points to build from going forward, as the Pioneers offense would find it's mark throughout the game. The Pioneers shot 50% from the field and 13-23 from three point territory.
CU Harrodsburg will not have to wait long for an opportunity to move forward from this contest, as they host UC-Clermont Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Mercer County Senior High School.
