Douglas Leads Pioneers to Third Straight Victory

Dalton Christopher, Contributing Writer

The Pioneers of Campbellsville University Harrodsburg defeated Asbury University 94-86 on Wednesday night.

It was the third straight victory for the Pioneers, after defeating Boyce College and Simmons College in last weekend's Mideast competition. A match up on Monday, January 10th against Pensacola Christian was postponed.

The Pioneers had all cylinders firing as they found offensive contributions from numerous members of the roster. They were led by Kereion Douglas, who had the most efficient performance of any Pioneer in program history. He shot a perfect 6-6 from three point range, and nine of ten overall from the field in route to 24 points. The Pioneers would also find a spark from a returning Tyron Duncan, who missed the previous two games with injury. Duncan provided a spark, scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds.

Mason Blair would provide another solid offensive night, adding 17 points, including two timely second half three point field goals that allowed the Pioneers to regain the lead.

Antoine Darby would continue his streak of impressive performances, adding 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. Nine of those points would come in the final ten minutes of the game.

The Pioneers (12-6) have won six of their last eight matchups. They return to the court on Tuesday, January 18th, for a matchup with Mideast member Welch College. They then travel to Michigan for match ups with Grace Christian and Great Lakes Christian.
