SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, INDIANA - In their first game of the season, CU Harrodsburg held off a late charge from Carlow University to earn their first win as the Lady Pioneers. 

E'moni Washington kept the distance between the Lady Pioneers and the Celtics in the first half, scoring 11 points in the opening two quarters. CU Harrodsburg led 20-14 at the end of a rough opening quarter for both teams.

The tempo seemed to settle in the second quarter as CU Harrodsburg would hold on to a 43-33 lead at the half, with the Lady Pioneers shooting 5 for 11 from three in the opening quarters. 

In the third quarter, Carlow would outscore the Lady Pioneers to chip away at the lead. Carlow's Delaney Daly would add five points and three boards in the third to give the Celtics a surge. Seven Lady Pioneers would score in the third to hold the lead at 58-50 going into the final quarter. 

The fourth would prove to provide the spark Carlow was looking for during the entire afternoon, as they found their way to the basket easier, outscoring the Lady Pioneers 22-17 in the final quarter, but late baskets from Nia Sheckles and Kelynn Clay proved to be too much to overcome and the Lady Pioneers held on to earn a 75-72 victory.

Clay was CU Harrodsburg's spark off the bench, tallying 14 to lead all scorers for the Lady Pioneers. Nia Sheckles and Oriona Woods would both add 12 points each. Washington would finish with 13 points and nine rebounds. 

CU Harrodsburg won't have much time to celebrate their first game of the season, as they return to the court tomorrow to take on Central State University.
