Campbellsville University Harrodsburg gave the Knights of Bellarmine University a run in the team's first NCAA Division I exhibition, ultimately falling 83-62.

Jaiden Douthit led the Pioneers in scoring, reaching a personal career high at CU Harrodsburg in the process. Douthit's 26 points was accompanied by four rebounds and six steals. Senior guard Oriona Woods followed with 20 points, five rebounds and two steals of her own.

The Pioneers would make the most of their first NCAA Division I contest, leading 40-39 going into the half time break. The Pioneers would extend their lead in the second half, continuing to find scoring opportunities in the third quarter. As the Pioneers entered the fourth quarter, a three point field goal from Douthit, her second of the evening, would give CU Harrodsburg their largest lead of the evening, 59-54, in the opening minutes of the final quarter.

Bellarmine would find their rhythm beyond the arc in the fourth quarter, hitting four three point field goals in the final minutes of the evening to pull away with an 83-62 victory. Points in the paint was another strong asset for the Knights, as they would win the battle inside 36-20. Bellarmine would also find offensive assistance from their bench, as the Knights would win the bench battle 29-9, with 12 of those points coming in the fourth quarter. The Pioneers would hold their own on points off turnovers, as each team earned 21 points in that statistic. The Pioneers would win the battle of second chance points, 10-6.

Another area of improvement for CU Harrodsburg came from the free throw line. The Pioneers scored an efficient 20 of 24 attempts from the line, an area they struggled in against Oakland City last week. The Pioneers would also come away with 41 rebounds.

The Pioneers' match up with Bellarmine was the first NCAA Division I exhibition in the team's history, and the ninth overall in the last five seasons for the Pioneers program.

CU Harrodsburg heads to the Christmas break 6-10 overall with their next match up on January 5th against Alice Lloyd.
