Campbellsville University Harrodsburg fell to Oakland City 84-41 on Wednesday night. The Pioneers had won five straight coming into the match up.
The Pioneers struggled out of the gate, scoring a season low eight points in the first quarter as Oakland City jumped out to a 28-8 lead in the first quarter, shooting 1-19 in the opening period. CU Harrodsburg's struggles would continue into the half, as the Pioneers offense would only mount an additional six points in the second quarter, with the Mighty Oaks leading 46-14 at the half.Â
Oakland City's offense would carry into the second half, with the Mighty Oaks defeating the Pioneers 84-41.Â
Senior guard Oriona Woods would lead the Pioneers with 14 points and four rebounds.
Free throws would earn the Mighty Oaks 15 points from 23 shot attempts, while CU Harrodsburg shot 11 for 24 from the line. Oakland City would control the paint with 67 rebounds on Wednesday night to CU Harrodsburg's 41. The Mighty Oaks would also outscore CU Harrodsburg 46-18 in the paint.Â
CU Harrodsburg will have several days to prepare for their next contest, and their final before the Christmas break, a match up with NCAA Division I Bellarmine University on Wednesday, December 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at Freedom Hall in Louisville. The match up will be the first NCAA Division I contest in program history for women's basketball.Â
